LimeSDR shows USB 2.O

Dear All,

i have a lime SDR connected to a USB 3.0 port but it shows 2.0. how can i fix this? thanks

First, check your cables - a lot of the so-called “USB 3” cables either don’t have the extra conductors for USB3, or they are such crappy cables that they have wires, but the wires are not up to carrying the extremely high frequency signals USB3 uses.
Second, check that your port really is USB3. I am sure you’ve done so many times, but… “Is it plugged in? Is it turned on? Is there power?”

Thanks…
I will change the cable and get back to you.

Hello All,
i kindly need assistance:
I think there might be something wrong with the SDR. i have connected a limeSDR to ubunru 16.04 OS.
It doesn’t show up when connected with USB 3.0 cable as per below:

/: Bus 02.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci_hcd/8p, 5000M

/: Bus 01.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci_hcd/16p, 480M

|__ Port 3: Dev 2, If 0, Class=Hub, Driver=hub/4p, 12M

    |__ Port 1: Dev 4, If 2, Class=Human Interface Device, Driver=usbhid, 12M

    |__ Port 1: Dev 4, If 0, Class=Human Interface Device, Driver=usbhid, 12M

|__ Port 9: Dev 3, If 0, Class=Wireless, Driver=btusb, 12M

|__ Port 9: Dev 3, If 1, Class=Wireless, Driver=btusb, 12M

It only shows up when I have a USB 2.0 cable connected as highlited below:

/: Bus 02.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci_hcd/8p, 5000M

/: Bus 01.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci_hcd/16p, 480M

|__ Port 2: Dev 13, If 0, Class=Vendor Specific Class, Driver=, 480M

|__ Port 3: Dev 2, If 0, Class=Hub, Driver=hub/4p, 12M

    |__ Port 1: Dev 4, If 2, Class=Human Interface Device, Driver=usbhid, 12M

    |__ Port 1: Dev 4, If 0, Class=Human Interface Device, Driver=usbhid, 12M

|__ Port 9: Dev 3, If 0, Class=Wireless, Driver=btusb, 12M

|__ Port 9: Dev 3, If 1, Class=Wireless, Driver=btusb, 12M

I have tested the USB 3.0 extension cable with other devices and it works ok.

/: Bus 02.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci_hcd/8p, 5000M

|__ Port 1: Dev 4, If 0, Class=Mass Storage, Driver=uas, 5000M

/: Bus 01.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci_hcd/16p, 480M

|__ Port 2: Dev 13, If 0, Class=Vendor Specific Class, Driver=, 480M

|__ Port 3: Dev 2, If 0, Class=Hub, Driver=hub/4p, 12M

    |__ Port 1: Dev 4, If 2, Class=Human Interface Device, Driver=usbhid, 12M

    |__ Port 1: Dev 4, If 0, Class=Human Interface Device, Driver=usbhid, 12M

|__ Port 9: Dev 3, If 0, Class=Wireless, Driver=btusb, 12M

|__ Port 9: Dev 3, If 1, Class=Wireless, Driver=btusb, 12M

Some motherboard USB chipsets can be problematic and would suggest tying another computer also if possible.

Check that usb3.0 pins of your lime are not broken. this was the explanation for me (already two lime in this situaion)

thanks. please how much power does the limeSDR need to be stable. my usb ports are only giving 100mA
