Here is the spectrum of the TX output,Could anyone help me to find out why the background noise is upraised, what caused this phenomenon and why my signal have so many unwanted tones? Thanks.

I had quick check on your GUI settings of LMS7002M chip.
My first assumption is that on your Evaluation boar Crystal Oscillator reference clock is not 30.72MHz, but 52MHz.
So let’s first check if that is the case. In order to do so, please load GUI setup file attached ‘Test_Lime_52MHz.ini’.
Go to SXT/SXR page, select B/SXT option on the top right side of GUI.
Type in your wanted frequency and click ‘Calculate’ & ‘Tune’. If everything is right, you should get the message
in Log field of GUI at the bottom saying “CSE_VCO selected 110” (the number depends on frequency).
And of course you should see your signal on Spectrum Analyzer.
In order to generate your wanted CW 2MHz tone signal (at 2142MHz) from your LO (2140MHz) here are the step you need to take:
TxTSP page:
- NCO (FCW) type 2MHz in one of the fields, chose that field and click ‘Upload NCO’
- TSGMODE select ‘DC Source’
- Bypass uncheck ‘CMIX’
- Input source ‘Test Signal’,
CLKGEN page:
- CSW_VCO_GEN 213 (look for the value that gives exact wanted NCO generated signal, in your case 2MHz)
Please keep in mind that after starting GUI it is needed to run CLKGEN Tuning Calculation by clicking ‘Calculate’ and ‘Tune’ buttons on CLKGEN page.
In case you want to send digital signal from Baseband set on please, follow these steps:
TxTSP page:
- Input Source set ‘LML Output’
- Bypass check ‘CMIX’
- CLK_H (MHz) 61.44MHz gives 5MHz bandwidth of external W-DCMA
20 MHz gives 1.5MHz bandwidth of external W-DCMA

Thanks,I have checked the output of the crystal oscillator, It’s 30.72MHz rather than 52MHz.
When I used the file you provided and changed the reference clock for 30.72MHz and set the CW 2MHz by “LML Output” ,then clicked “Calculate” and “Tune” buttons, now the spectrum seems more normal than before.
But it still has some strange phenomenons sometimes,like the pics attached, they always occur just for 1 or 2 seconds. I’m confused about what caused these phenomenons.

Try to change on SXT/SXR page in the block ‘SXT/SXR controls’ Value of ‘CSW_VCO’ till the performance gets stable.
Make sure on the top bar of GUI in the block at the right ‘Configuring Channels’ option ‘B/SXT’ is selected.

In this case it would help to start looking ant the digital side of the platform.
It could be that the dithers are coming from the baseband side. Could you please describe
what platform are you using? Is it MyriadRF-1 board with Zipper connected to FPGA, or UNITE7002 board with Stream board? Or is it your own board design? Once we have full picture of the platform, then we can start tracking where the bug is coming from. Thanks

Yes, it is clearly the issue of digital lines is somewhere on your board. To find which data bit can cause the issue, I suggest to probe them one by one while you sending let’s say CW or W-CDMA signal and see if the data bit you are probing is stable or it introduces any unexpected noise.

I see that same dither is also on the input of buffer SN74AVC4T774.
I think you have to analyze if CLK on your baseband side is working properly.
It might be something on the board is causing CLK line to dither.
As per my observation on your Evaluation boar Crystal Oscillator reference clock is not 30.72MHz, but 52MHz. So let’s first check if that is the case. In order to do so, please load GUI setup file attached
Go to SXT/SXR page, select B/SXT option on the top right side of GUI.
Type in your wanted frequency and click ‘Calculate’ & ‘Tune’. If everything is right, you should get the message.
