Open-source CNC aluminum case for LimeSDR USB: RF-shielded, thermal pads, full SMA breakout

Hi all,

I’m sharing an open-source CNC enclosure project for LimeSDR USB.

GitHub:

What this case focuses on:

  • Mechanical protection
  • Passive thermal dissipation with thermal interface pads
  • RF/control area separation and RF firewall concept
  • Full SMA breakout support + laser marking file

Included files:

  • top.step / bottom.step
  • top.f3d / bottom.f3d
  • Laser_Marking.dwg
  • Pilot build photos and assembly notes

Manufacturing:
I tested a pilot build with JLCCNC/JLC-style workflow using STEP + optional laser marking DWG.

Assembly notes:

  • Threads are not pre-modeled; user taps threads during assembly
  • M4x30 for case halves
  • M3x4 flat-head for PCB mounting
  • Fan area supports 4010 (40x40x10), but passive cooling was enough in my RX use case (~34C)

Cable note:
For RF-side SMA-IPEX links I recommend RG113 75 mm. 100 mm can work but makes assembly harder.

Feedback on geometry/DFM is welcome.
