This is only a query for curiosity at this point. What is the status (or roadmap) of the XTRX v1.3 board?
This is the latest manufactured version and so is the question, will there be an updated version (>v1.3) ?
Thanks. What began as an amateur radio project has launched a potential commercial fork and we are evaluating the XTRX ahead of potentially purchasing a few more for a pilot project. However, converging on a uniform (and most recent) board version is thought to be desirable. It doesn’t appear that Crowd Source can guarantee delivery of a specific version so if one were ordered now, what is the probability of receiving a version 1.3 board?
I wouldn’t like to say. Your best bet would likely be to purchase via Mouser and have their customer service check inventory.
Andrew,
Thanks; order in progress with Mouser.
Here is a cautionary note for anyone interested in the latest version of a board being purchased from Mouser. Apparently they do not track the version (only the part number) in their inventory. Moreover, the documentation on the web page for that particular part makes reference to version 1.3 in the case of the XTRX board despite the inventory containing old stock. I was unlucky enough to have been shipped the old version and Mouser is still waiting for new stock; this upsets our development plan. The board is packaged by two ESD protective bags; an inner bag containing the board which is NOT sealed and an outer larger bag that is sealed by the yellow sticker. The inner bag is enclosed in an opaque plastic box which is protected by the sealed yellow bag. Inspection of the board is not possible without breaking the seal and rendering the product non returnable. My suggestion to whoever packages this item is to seal the inner bag although I realize that there could be issues with bag, sticker and box sizing and may not be worthwhile if few people care. I have passed this suggestion onto Mouser customer service. The old stock of version 1.2 seems to have been depleted (I received the second last) and Mouser is currently awaiting a new shipment of 50.
I know nothing about the manufacturing to distribution chain of the LimeSDR hardware hence I ask whether it would be possible or realistic to link hardware version to an individually packaged part for end user identification or to a shipment version that would facilitate version tracking in supplier inventories? I suspect that version specification upon order is not a common requirement but my case here surely can’t be the only one. I have been involved in manufacturing but know nothing about the distribution process that follows.
I’m not involved in manufacture and packaging etc. but will pass on your feedback.
