Lime SDR MINI and LNA Amp

Hey I have a UHF an VHF tuned antenna and I bought a 32 dbm LNA amp with a 12 volt supply and a usb 3 pci card.

antenna -> LNA AMP -> SMA cable 3in -> Lime SDR MINI RX

Should this work/ is it safe

@KE0EWO - Max,

Should be fine - I looked over the specs on Amazon and it can act as a 32dB preamp. Doesn’t appear to have any issues with being DC powered at any of the RF ports that could cause any issues with the Mini. The only thing I would caution you on is that any application you’re using to receive with the preamp inline with the Mini, start with the PGA, TIA, and LNA gains at their minimum and then raise them incrementally until you have best receive performance. I would start with the PGA gain first, LNA gain second, and TIA gain last. You will get the most response from the PGA gain, but all have contributions to the receive signal strength. Also be careful with ESD with this preamp - try to be grounded when installing it and setting it up.

Hope this helps - 73 de Marty, KN0CK

Thank you That helps a lot! Will do, not sure if you have any experience with trunk-recorder but any suggestions on using it with that for a local p25 system

@KE0EWO - Max,

Well, the way you’re started on that you’re on the right direction, but you will need an app to tune the frequencies and then an app to demod the P25 - Both exist in separate apps, but implementation is purely your choice on that. Let me know if you want an opinion on apps -
