Recently had issues getting my LimeSDR Mini working on on two separate Windows machines, one on 10 and the other on 11, both with the latest FTDI D3XX driver. Neither one showed the LimeSDR in LimeUtil or LimeSuite. Even worse, neither would connect to the FT600 Chip Configuration Utility as described here: FAQ — LimeSDR Mini Boards 23.01 documentation. I honestly thought my part was bricked/broken and was getting ready to put JTAG headers on and go down that rabbit-hole…
Thankfully, I sanity checked by plugging the same Mini into an Ubuntu machine and it was working fine! I went back to the Windows machines, tried different USB ports, uninstalled and reinstalled the devices in Device Manager, but it still refused to cooperate. Then I decided to try the FTDI D3XX 1.3 driver (1.3.0.10 as of this writing) as opposed to the 1.4 (1.4.0.1 as of this writing). After uninstalling the 1.4 driver and installing the 1.3 one, eureka!
If this has already been recorded somewhere, I could not find it for the life of me. I’d like if somebody else can confirm they have the same issue with a clean install of the most recent D3XX driver for the Mini v1. If the same issue arises, maybe the hardware team should reach out to FTDI about the bug, but at very least put version guidance for the driver installation in the meantime.
