PopthosSDR error indicating Python error

Hi Guys,
Just got PothosSDR up to run and I have Python installed (2.7.13 64 bit) and come up with an error
that it is a Python problem along with a gateware problem. I was following the Pothos SDR environment tutorial
to try and get this setup correctly. Exactly which python version is used and how do you upgrade gateware?

Thanks!

Paul

This is how I did it. What operating system?

Axeman,
I am using WIndows 10. I tried to update using the same LimeSDR utility but I think that since it isnā€™t recognizing that there is Python already on the system ā€œ[21:36:07.956000] Pothos.PluginLoader.load: Plugin Module Error: Pothos::PluginModule(C:\Program Files\PothosSDR\lib\Pothos\modules0.5\proxy\environment\PythonSupport.dll)ā€. I thought that it wouldnā€™t as Python is a great scripting language. Anyway I am stumped right now and hopefully I will figure something out or be lucky enough to read of a solution! I truly appreciate your answering but I think itā€™s like hitting a moving target in the dark at this moment.

I use Linux but it has that same library with an .so extension. It came from the Pothos install automatically.
ā€œFailed safe load?ā€ Maybe a security setting? I have never got my Windows installation working but it is because I havenā€™t tried.
It seems like it is working anyway up to the point of displaying something and then libpng is gagging.

I will try and see what I can find. According to the internet an .so and .dll (dynamic linked library) are supposedly
OK with windows so I will ask around. Interestingly enough (according to file.org) their use is mostly to do with
C and C++!

Thanks again!

Hi pjb789:

Iā€™ve got the same issue as you mentioned before,Plugin Module Error: Pothos::PluginModule(E:\PothosSDR\lib\Pothos\modules0.5\proxy\environment\PythonSupport.dll): failed safe load,
Have you already resolve it?

Same here, everyone. Fresh Pothos install (2017.11.1 vc14 x64) on Windows 10, and when running the LimeSDR Workshop files cloned straight off of the github I get the following error when initializing.

[04:33:20.187000] Pothos.PluginLoader.load: Plugin Module Error: Pothos::PluginModule(C:\Program Files\PothosSDR\lib\Pothos\modules0.5\proxy\environment\PythonSupport.dll): failed safe load

I havenā€™t been able to use Pothos in a while now. I have quit trying. Maybe I will try to get this nailed down as I will have some time.

I donā€™t know about Windows but I found out the source directory has changed at Github to PothosCore. The executable is called PothosFlow.
I have deleted my old /pothos instalation and PothosGui and now it works again.

I have the same problem here (Windows7 64bit):
Pothos.PluginLoader.load: Plugin Module Error: Pothos::PluginModule(C:\Program Files\PothosSDR\lib\Pothos\modules0.5\proxy\environment\PythonSupport.dll): failed safe load

Itā€™s not a solution but here is the code that throws the error. I am suspecting it;s a 64/32 bit issue, and we are all on 64. Is anyone having the problem on 32 bit Windows?

Please note that there is a discussion group for Pothos where you may get faster answers to such questions:

Thanks @andrewback. I found some guidance there and solved it.

SOLUTION: Install Python 3.6 64 bit and make sure it is in the path.
