Firmware needs constant reflashing

Hi, I have a limesdr, and can use the limeutils, gnuradio etc.
My problem is that after a few minutes use, the device stops working and then everything reports:

  Gateware version mismatch!
Expected gateware version 2, revision 12
But found version 0, revision 0

reflashing the firmware with limeutils fixes it temporarily·
Any ideas what I can do to stop this from happening?

Thanks,
Mat

Hi Matt,

When this happens it’s usually due to power supply brown-out. Would recommend trying a different USB cable (usually the problem) or port.

thanks Andrew. I’ll make up a power cable for the dc jack and let you know if it solves it.

Andrew, thanks this has definitely helped. I used a wall wart powersupply and haven’t experienced another firmware crash since then.

Glad to hear it’s resolved.

Hi,
sorry to report back that even with the external PSU we are still having lots of problems.
Flashing firmware went down to just a couple of times in a session, but has recently got a lot worse.

Just now we are getting this error from gnuradio (previously working)

e[1me[31m[ERROR] e[0m
e[1me[33m[WARNING] SoapyLMS7::setSampleRate(): not a power of two factor: TSP Rate = 15.36 MHZ, Requested rate = 10 MHze[0m
e[1me[31m[ERROR] e[0m
e[1me[31m[ERROR] e[0m
e[1me[31m[ERROR] setBandwidth(Rx, 0, 30 MHz) Failed - e[0m

Then when we try to run it again:

e[1me[33m[WARNING] Gateware version mismatch!
Expected gateware version 2, revision 12
But found version 0, revision 0
Follow the FW and FPGA upgrade instructions:
  http://wiki.myriadrf.org/Lime_Suite#Flashing_images
Or run update on the command line: LimeUtil --update

Then we can flash it again but the same problem persists. It seems to have got worse ;(

Just in case it’s useful, I’m running off a lab PSU now, set to 10v and I can see it’s drawing 400mA.

Sorry to hear that.

Do you have anything else to suggest, @Zack?

What is limit of the current on your lab PSU?
