Hi LimeSDR team,

is there a reason for the LimeSDR-USB PWR LED cathode pad, which is directly connected to ground, not having a thermal pad? It is really somewhat difficult to solder.

Best regards,
Mike

You dont need thermal pad for the led unless you running 100 watts led flashlight.

Hi,
obviously, we do not have the same understanding, what a thermal pad is. I am talking about the difficulty to solder a ground pad which is fully connected to the copper ground plane.

“Thermal pad” can also mean something else.

> In computing and electronics, thermal pads (also called thermally conductive pad or thermal interface pad) are pre-formed squares or rectangles of solid material (often paraffin wax or silicone based) commonly found on the underside of heatsinks to aid the conduction of heat away from the component being cooled (such as a CPU or another chip) and into the heatsink (usually made from aluminium or copper). Thermal pads and thermal compound are used to fill air gaps caused by imperfectly flat or smo...
