LimeSDR input ESD (static) protection

I do wonder what the commercial installations use because we know they don’t unplug in bad weather*. I guess they must use massive surge arrestors (as Andrew mentions).

But for static it seems to be manageable and not too expensive.

A local station was off-air and they reported on their website that they were painting the antenna but that sounds like a tall tale.

They tend to use static bleed adapters (short spark gaps) and tower grounding.
And they replace the gear that gets taken out as part of the cost of biz.
I don’t think you want to replace your station as the cost of biz.
