Hi all,

I wonder if there is an somehow reproducible instruction available to install a GSM station from scratch. I have experience with OpenBTS and UHD radios, worked with it years ago, and it did a fine job, and I was able to run some special package of YateBTS on a RasPi with a BladeRF - but I want to run such with Lime radios.

And it should not depend highly on hardware or OS, means, should be doable on debian style OS like Ubuntu or Raspbian, so building from sources is preferred, not using prcompiled binaries.

Are there any ideas? Osmocom looks quite complicated, but maybe it is just a matter of finding the right “entry point” with some nice documentation?

Thanks for any ideas!

Ralph.

There is some documentation on the Osmocom wiki and LimeSDR hardware support is now in its mainline and latest official release. See:

And more generally:

The recommended approach is to use the new architecture, since the OsmoNITB is now deprecated. So instead the network-in-the-box is replaced by OsmoBSC, OsmoHLR and OsmoSTP etc. See the Osmocom docs for details.

So no all-in-one manual, have to do it the hard way 🙂 Well, let’s see when I find the time to go through all this and collect all the information…

Thanks!

Ralph.

There is mainline support and it was requested by Osmocom developers that we do not host our own instructions, since these become out-of-date and misleading, resulting in more support questions on their lists.
